The Zimbabwe Academy of Dental Nursing (ZADENU) marked a momentous milestone on Saturday, 7th December 2024, as it held its much-anticipated Graduation Ceremony at the prestigious Prince Edward School Hall in Harare. The event, filled with pride, elegance, and joy, celebrated the accomplishments of the Academy’s latest cohort of qualified dental nurses.
The ceremony commenced at 0930hrs with an academic procession led by the faculty staff and dignitaries, officially setting the tone for the morning. The event was co-hosted by the eloquent duo, Eng. Mrs. P. Moyana Mukanga and Mr. F. Mukanga, who masterfully guided proceedings with warmth and professionalism.
Following the National Anthem and Grace by the Minister of Religion, the Academy’s Registrar, Mrs. Irene Kuda Moyana, gave a heartfelt welcome, appreciating the efforts of students, faculty, parents, and stakeholders.
Dr. F.S. Moyana, ZADENU Director and Principal, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the background and impact of the Academy’s training program, highlighting ZADENU’s mission to professionalize dental nursing in Zimbabwe and beyond.
In a show of solidarity and sectoral support, Ms. Jestina Nkala, President of the Zimbabwe Dental Surgery Assistant Association (ZIDESAA), addressed the gathering and commended the Academy for consistently upholding high standards of training.
The ceremony reached a pinnacle with the Keynote Address by Professor D.J. Simbi, Vice Chancellor of Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT), who was the Guest of Honour. Prof. Simbi challenged the graduates to become pioneers in oral healthcare delivery and ambassadors of professional excellence. His motivating words struck a deep chord with both graduates and guests.
Graduates were then conferred with diplomas by the Guest of Honour, assisted by the ZADENU faculty staff. The ceremony was elevated by a soulful musical performance by Audrey Dangirwa (Auddana Music), bringing a festive spirit to the academic occasion.
Special recognition followed with the presentation of awards and prizes to outstanding students in various categories. The solemn Oath-Taking Ceremony, administered by Mrs. Eucaria Mushosho, Dean of Allied Health Sciences at Harare Institute of Technology, was a defining moment, as graduates pledged to uphold the ethics and responsibilities of their profession.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr. Moyana and a powerful closing prayer and motivation from Chaplain Phiri. Graduates, staff, and dignitaries later gathered for lunch, entertainment, and group photos, capturing memories that will last a lifetime.
As ZADENU continues to shape the future of dental healthcare in Zimbabwe, this graduation served not only as a celebration but as a call to action—to serve, lead, and transform communities through skilled and compassionate care.
Congratulations to the ZADENU Class of 2024!
